The new coffee shop from husband-and-wife design team Jon and Brandi Ward has opened its doors at 325 Rocky Slope Road in Verdae, just beside Legacy Park.
Chestnut Coffee House + Market is the first phase of the new concept from Chestnut Living, the home design and remodeling team that has been building and rebuilding local homes for years. That design experience is evident in the interior of Chestnut Coffee Shop + Market, which channels a midcentury modern style that combines warm wooden tones, abundant plants and sleek minimalism.
“It’s funny, because we had somebody come in and say that if the coffee shop fails and goes out of business, we can always just have somebody move in and live here as a backup,” Brandi Ward said.

The coffee shop offers familiar barista beverages from Methodical Coffee, including the brand-new Methodical Coffee tea, as well as pastries from Sovereign Bakery in Simpsonville.
Sharing the 3,000-square-foot space is the future site of Chestnut Market, which is slated to open in about a month and will carry locally-sourced grocery items, local wine and beers, take-and-bake meal options, plants and home design products like pillows, kitchen ware and small goods.
“We wanted to not only offer fresh, locally-sourced groceries, but also bring a little bit of our interior design options, too,” Brandi Ward said. “If you want to stop by to get a plant or flowers, a bottle of wine, an easy take-and-bake dinner, chocolates, whatever you might need — it’s a one-stop-shop.”
