The former Liberty Tap Room Bar & Grill location has sat empty since the restaurant closed its doors in October, but Greenville Drive owner Craig Brown has plans to transform the space into a new restaurant.
Brown bought the building in December from Centennial American Properties for $13.5 million. He said it was a good fit, given that the Greenville Drive organization has already worked out of the building’s office space since 2017.
“We’ve been working hard over the last five years to incorporate that building into the Fluor Field, Greenville Drive experience,” Brown said. “So this is just continuing with that same strategic thrust.”

Located next to Fluor Field, Liberty Tap Room Bar & Grill was a popular pre-game watering hole and afterwork happy hour hangout spot in downtown’s West End, with a menu focused on American bar and tailgate food.
As for what a new restaurant will look like in the building, that is still to be announced, Brown said. Greenville Drive is currently working on finding a partner for the space.
“I think for now, the only thing to say in that regard is that we want to have it run by an organization that wants to partner with everything we’ve created at the ballpark,” Brown said. “That’s what we’re working on right now.”

While a timeline on when a new concept will open in the space is still unknown, it is highly unlikely any major steps will be taken before the Drive’s opening day on April 8.
This season marks the Drive’s “Sweet 16” celebration, and Brown said fans can expect “plenty of surprises, special events and new things to unveil as the year unfolds, all consistent with the ‘Sweet 16’ theme.
