2022 saw a boom in economic investment in Greenville County with 22 organizations either announcing expansion plans or choosing to locate to the area with the assistance of the Greenville Area Development Corporation, the nonprofit announced Jan. 18.
The 2022 announcements combined represent $468 million in new capital investment and 2,326 new jobs, encompassing a variety of industries that include:
- Automotive
- Life sciences
- Office/headquarters
“It’s a testament to the work of so many people that Greenville, despite the global challenges of COVID, inflation, workforce challenges and hyper-competition, continues to be such an attractive and appealing destination for organizations the world over to want to live in and conduct business from,” said GADC Chief Executive Officer Mark Farris. “I couldn’t be prouder of our team, our board and our investors and allies, and the year’s results speak for themselves.”

According to Farris, growing and developing industrial parks and office/industrial space has helped drive interest in the community. Some of the developments include:
- Fox Hill Business Park
- Augusta Grove
- Main Street Labs
- University Ridge
In 2022, new capital investment hit the county’s third highest ranking, trailing behind 2020 and 2014, while the job additions reached the highest one-year level since 2016, said the GADC in a news release.
Since its inception in mid-2001, the GADC team’s efforts have resulted in the announcement of more than 34,600 new jobs and more than $6.6 billion in capital investment in Greenville County.
