Itron, an industrial Internet of Things leader that works to innovate how utilities and cities manage energy and water, will expand its West Union facility, the S.C. Department of Commerce announced June 7.
As part of the expansion plans, Itron expects to create 100 jobs as it makes a $28.5 million capital expenditure over three years. The facility at 313 S. Highway 11 will serve as home to the company’s Center of Excellence for its North American operations. It will also be used to manufacture gas and water endpoints to collect and transmit meter data.
“Itron’s Oconee plant has a long history of manufacturing excellence and is known for its commitment to quality,” said Itron North America Operations Director and Oconee Plant Manager Vijay Rajaram. “Through past acquisitions, we have been located in the area for more than 50 years. We are proud of our roots here and look forward to expanding our operations.”
The expansion is expected to be complete by the end of 2024. For more information, visit itron.com/na.
