On March 22, 13 Stripes River Lodge announced its closure via social media.
It is located along Old Easley Highway, just over the county line in Pickens County.
“It is with heavy hearts that today we announce the final weekend of the 13 Stripes River Lodge. It’s been a fun ride with you all,” the post read. “We’ve so enjoyed the floats, the music, the food, the special events and all of our shared moments together. It’s been our pleasure, and honor, getting to connect with our new customers, hang with new regulars, and to serve and to get to know so many of you over the past 2.5 years.”
The official closing date was March 24.
The river lodge was the sister business to 13 Stripes Brewery in Taylors.
Aaron Robinson, co-owner of the brewery said that it was hard to turn a profit on the lodge with its popularity mostly centered on the warmer months. The area is popular with tubers along the Saluda River.
Some of the staff from the lodge will be brought into the brewery’s operations.
Last year, 13 Stripes Brewery launched a barbecue truck, Defiance BBQ, which serves burgers and smoked meats like ribs. Despite the closure of the lodge, Robinson said the barbecue component has been a hit.
“We’ll just hang out back in the O.G. location and recalibrate, and see what’s next,” Robinson said.
