You may have noticed a new presence in the Village of West Greenville.
Reunión Coffee quietly wheeled its way in front of The Oxford Barber Co. at 1256 Pendleton St., with a soon-to-come opening in the corner nook of the shop. Oxford’s owner, John Redgrave, has been hoping to find a use for the space.
Reunión Coffee owner Edwin Martinez has a background in photo and video. It’s not unusual to see a camera set up as he documents his day behind a custom-made La Spaziale espresso machine.

“I officially launched it in December of this past year, but I’ve been working in coffee since 2017,” Martinez said. “It’s something that I’ve been wanting to pursue for years.”
Martinez previously worked at Junto and other coffee shops in the Greer and Taylors area. His father and grandfather worked on coffee farms in Oaxaca, Mexico. The transition to ownership is challenging, but one he welcomes with eagerness and the desire to unite people through coffee.
Martinez and Redgrave became acquainted at one of Oxford’s Saturday Markets, where Martinez joined as a vendor in late 2024. For the two businesses, the collaboration is a win-win.
“The beverage side of our experience factor when you’re in the barber shop has always been important,” Redgrave said. Redgrave said he has always had an appreciation for fine and specialty coffee.
Currently, Reunión serves:
- Rowan Coffee in Asheville’s Mohammed Aba Nura, with beans hailing from Ethiopia
- Rowan Coffee’s Regalo de Dios SL34, with beans from Nicaragua
- Dutch coffee company La Cabra’s La Roca roast, with beans native to Costa Rica
The barber and coffee shops are separated by a wall accessible from the side of the building closest to the intersection of Perry Avenue and Branwood Street. The coffee nook will require some renovation so it is “super small but cute,” as Redgrave put it. Martinez and Redgrave are planning a February opening of the coffee shop. For now, the coffee cart is operating in front of the barber shop Thursday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Oxford Barber Co. and Reunión are located at 578 Perry Ave.
