A.P. Moller-Maersk Air Cargo introduced two weekly flights between Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport and Shenyang Taoxian International Airport in China. The service will increase to three weekly flights in May.
“With the introduction of these new routes, we are further connecting North America and Asia Pacific through regular flights and controlled capacity for our customers,” said Michel Pozas Lucic, global head of air in A.P. Moller–Maersk. “At Maersk, we want to ensure that our customers have the visibility, reliability and resilience in their supply chains. Air freight continues to be an important asset in our customers’ end-to-end logistics needs.”
The flights will be flown with three newly acquired Boeing 767-300 freighters and operated by Miami-headquartered cargo airline Amerijet International.
Maersk began offering flights to Incheon International Airport in Korea from GSP in October, making it the first South Carolina airport to offer scheduled cargo service to Asia.
Announced last October, GSP plans to begin a cargo apron expansion to double aircraft parking capacity from three Boeing 747 to six simultaneously.
