After over a year in business, The Pineapple Express in Simpsonville’s Warehouse at Vaughn’s has closed.
Co-Owner and Chef Tye Cantrell said in an Instagram post he decided to close the Hawaiian barbecue restaurant because his mental and physical health couldn’t take operating the business.
“So I’ve had my restaurant open just over a year now and I have loved seeing y’all and making all y’all food, however, my body and mind can’t take it anymore,” said the post. “Opening a restaurant was a dream for me, but my physical and mental health just can’t take it anymore. I’m sorry y’all, I tried. I have decided to close down my Simpsonville location permanently.”
Once he is able to purchase a new smoker and some picnic tables, Cantrell plans to return to doing pop-up food sales and catering, the post said.
