Michigan-based JR Automation Technologies announced Monday it will invest $3.4 million to expand its operations in Pickens County and create 56 jobs.
The expansion will include moving into a 50,000-square-foot facility at Pickens County Commerce Park, the company said.
JR Automation Technologies will begin hiring for new positions immediately, and jobseekers are asked to visit the company’s career page online.
“We are pleased to announce the launch of our new facility, and we are grateful for all the support we have received from the community here in South Carolina,” said Bryan Jones, CEO of JR Automation Technologies, in a statement. “JR’s rapid growth is truly a testament to the strength of our relationships with our customers, suppliers and neighbors, and to the dedication of our employees. We look forward to seeing that growth continue at our new facility.”
Founded in 1980, JR Automation Technologies provides automated equipment and services for various industries, including automotive, aerospace, medical, pharmaceutical, food processing, construction and others.
The company said it has more than 850 employees at eight locations. Its products range from welding to laser applications to metal and plastics processing.
In 2011, the company announced its plan to move into its current facility at 1473 Walhalla Highway in Pickens. It was the company’s first facility outside.
“Pickens County is delighted to partner with JR Automation Technologies as their business grows and thrives,” said Jennifer Willis, Pickens County Council chairwoman, in a statement. “We are confident that the partnership we have will continue to help the company. Our workforce, our technical education and our commitment to a business-friendly community will support JR Automation as they expand into this new facility… We look forward to watching this company’s continued achievements for many years to come.”
