Connecticut-based Ulbrich Precision Flat Wire Inc., a division of Ulbrich Stainless Steels and Special Metals Inc., recently announced a $5 million dollar investment for the expansion of their Westminster operations.
The facility produces precision flat and fine wire products, as well as photovoltaic ribbon used in the manufacture of solar modules. It also operates a focus factory dedicated to the research and development of new products and processes.
“The state’s attractive tax incentive and ongoing commitment to business and manufacturing was a key factor in the decision to expand our wire operations in Westminster,” said Dan Day of Ulbrich in a release. “These incentives are critical in our ability to grow and remain competitive in a global economy.”
The expansion is expected to start in the spring of 2014 and will include additional manufacturing square footage and precision rolling equipment.
Ulbrich’s products are used in diverse industries such as aerospace, automotive, energy, medical, chemical processing and electronics. The company employs nearly 700 people worldwide throughout 10 facilities in five countries, processing more than 140 alloys. It is a fourth-generation family-owned business.
