Here’s a recap of the Greenville Board of Zoning Appeals May 11 meeting:
Approved: Special permits for nightclub, cigar bar
The board unanimously approved special exception permits for Ibiza Nightlife to remain open after midnight and for Smoke at the Mill to operate a cigar bar at 500 E. Park Ave.
Ibiza Nightlife is located at 50 Woods Lake Road, and the permit allows the business to remain open to 2 a.m. provided it meets several conditions, among which is the requirement that the business have four security officers and two off-duty law enforcement officers on hand Fridays and Saturdays between 10 p.m. and 2:15 a.m.
Other conditions require the nightclub to assign staff to monitor entrances to ensure the building does not exceed occupancy limits, discourage patrons from loitering or engaging in disorderly conduct, and prohibit outdoor live entertainment or sound amplification.
Smoke at the Mill is located in the building formerly occupied by Stone Pizza Company and was granted a special exception to operate a bar conditioned on the business maintaining a certified security officer Fridays and Saturdays from 10 p.m. until closing at midnight.
Outdoor music performances are allowed, without amplification, in the business’s outdoor screened-in patio but must cease at 10 p.m.
According to the application, only cigar smoking will be permitted both inside and outside the business. No cigarette smoking is permitted.
In addition to selling premium cigars, the business will also serve tapas-style small plate dishes, wine, beer and cocktails.
