Omron Automation, a global manufacturer of automation solutions, is relocating its production from a facility in Renton, Washington, to Atlas at Inland Port Greer, the company announced Feb. 8.
The move to a 60,000-square-foot-space in the industrial hub at 311 Genoble Road in Greer is expected to be complete by May.
The company plans to manufacture motion controllers and drives; machine vision, bar code readers and verification systems at the facility in Spartanburg County.
Future expansion to Omron’s South Carolina operations will involve some of the company’s highest demand technologies produced at its facilities around the globe, the company said. The expansion is expected to include a state-of-the-art proof of concept center where customers can see solutions in action.
In the run-up to the move, Omron has been using Spartanburg Community College’s Spark Center in Duncan to facilitate the move and continue to produce and ship products.
The company has also partnered with readySC to recruit and train employees for the new facility.
Atlas at Inland Port Greer is an industrial joint venture between the Warhaft Group and Atlas Capital Group and is located within an opportunity zone and multicounty industrial and business park near Inland Port Greer, BMW Manufacturing and Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport.
