A downtown taco shop is expanding.
Papi’s Tacos will open its second downtown Greenville location in spring 2023.
Located at 21 Augusta St., the new storefront will occupy around the same square footage as its flagship store on River Street.
Papi’s on Augusta will also feature the same menu but will eventually test new dishes since the new location has a full kitchen with a gas stove and hood. Papi’s Tacos on River Street only has a half kitchen, said Papi’s Co-Owner Jorge Barrales.
“When my father Papi and Carl (Sobocinski) started it (Papi’s Tacos), the restaurant was set up for retail space,” said Barrales. “We have a half kitchen (on River Street) and utilize Lazy Goat’s kitchen. That’s how we stay connected with Table 301.”
The Augusta store will also feature around 40 seats, including the bar area, and will share a green space that will offer shared seating with Jack Brown’s Beer and Burger Joint and Sweet Sippin’, said Barrales.
While the new Papi’s location is also in downtown Greenville, Barrales said the flagship store on River Street will remain open.
