Based on the report, the performing arts venue is expected to contribute $122.2 million annually to Greenville County’s economy, including an $80.6 million annual impact and an additional $41.6 million from the expansion project underway on its six-acre campus in downtown Greenville. The expansion includes:
- Two new music venues
- Recording and podcast studio
- Artist dorm
- Meeting and event space expansion
- Urban design surrounding the Wyche pavilion
When construction is completed in 2024, Peace Center officials anticipate the following projections:
- Around 850 events each year.
- Average annual attendance will be at 450,000 people.
- By 2029, the Peace Center expects to have hosted more than 10 million patrons.
“The Peace Center was established to be a hub for the performing arts and to improve the quality of life in the region,” said Peace Center CEO Megan Riegel. “The results of this study help prove just how valuable the performing arts are to our community and state.”
Since opening in 1990, the Peace Center has hosted over 6 million patrons at nearly 13,000 performances and events.
