QahWah Palace Coffee House will soon open on Greenville’s Main Street.
An exact opening date for the Middle East-inspired cafe is still to be determined. QahWah Palace, located at 105 N. Main St., will serve coffee made with sun-dried Yemeni beans. The usage of beans and heritage of the restaurant is a tribute to owner Idriss Saleh’s home country.
“Mokha is actually a place in Yemen where we started distributing coffee to the world back in the 1800s,” he said. “So [we’re] trying to let people know where coffee came from – trying to be a little bit different.”
The city later lent its name to mocha coffee.
QahWah Palace totals 4,700 square feet on two floors. Downstairs includes a conference room that can accommodate eight people, as well as study areas.

The shop will serve lattes, pour overs and drip, possibly a Turkish coffee and adeni chai. Adeni chai is indigenous to Yemen and similar to karak chai from India, but with different spices and made with evaporated milk. QahWah will serve qishr, a decaffinated coffee drink made with coffee bean husks, which is also a traditional drink in Yemen.
The interior shows marble, golds and greens throughout.
Reason for the name
“Qahwah” is Arabic for “coffee.”
