VentureSouth, one of the top 10 angel investment groups in North America, has invested in its 100th early-stage company, Darby, the organization announced March 29.
Darby is a healthcare technology startup based in Greenville that works to simplify at-home care delivery for providers and vendors by offering a modern and efficient order-flow platform.
The company was founded by Charlotte Lawson, who served as an attending physician and champion for innovation at Prisma Health. She was inspired to launch Darby after she saw the need for its services during her time practicing medicine as she pursued her master’s degree in business administration at Harvard Business School.
“We are thrilled to announce our investment in Darby, and we’re equally proud that we have now been able to support 100 companies over the years,” said VentureSouth co-founder and Managing Director Matt Dunbar. “It is a privilege to partner with entrepreneurs like Charlotte who are working tirelessly against long odds to solve challenging and meaningful problems in the world. We are delighted to reach this ‘first century’ milestone, and we’re already hard at work seeking out the next 100 startups to add to our portfolio.”
VentureSouth has invested nearly $75 million across 100 companies.
