A townhome development may be coming to the former “Baby Bi-Lo” site in downtown Greenville.
Acre Management, an Atlanta-based private equity firm, plans to tear down the former shopping center at 505 N. Main St. to build 46 new townhomes. The units will include:
- 33 three-story townhome units
- 13 two-story townhome units
The community is invited to provide feedback on the development at the city of Greenville’s Project Preview Meeting on Nov. 19. The project is tentatively scheduled to go before the city’s Design Review Board on Jan. 16, 2025.
The former “Baby Bi-Lo” site has sat mostly vacant since the grocery store closed in 2013. Several plans for the three-acre property have been brought forward in the last decade but were abandoned.
Earlier this year, Acre Management requested to rezone the property to explore additional development options. The site is currently zoned MX-2 and MX-3 which allows for two-story or three-story mixed-use buildings.
With the rezoning request, the developer unveiled two options for the site during a presentation at the June Project Preview Meeting. Many residents expressed concerns about the proposed zoning change. Following the public meeting, the rezoning request was ultimately withdrawn.
